The Worst Runway Looks From F/W 2024 Paris Fashion Week
An inventive display of creativity and edge, 2024's Paris Fashion Week has both wooed and confused fashion aficionados left and right. While some runway looks stunned in both their visionary statements and craftsmanship, others fell a bit short. However, it can't be denied that a less-than-exceptional ensemble still makes an impact and inevitably causes a stir worth examining. The runways at Paris Fashion Week shows are always art in motion — as were the collections at New York Fashion Week this year — and while beauty is in the eye of the beholder, there are always some shows that leave onlookers subtly shaking their heads.
Looks featuring bubbles, scales, and fur were winners in our book, while on the other hand, mismatched pieces with nothing to hold them together, something akin to yellow rubber dish gloves, and semi-apocalyptic looks were some of the misses this year. And while we can certainly appreciate a piece of art that gets people talking, these looks left us feeling less than inspired.
Luggage prints that didn't quite land
While the look certainly made a statement, we couldn't quite get behind the luggage-themed getup at the Louis Vuitton Womenswear Fall/Winter 2024-2025 show on March 5. The fuzzy mittens only added to the puzzle, but we do appreciate the innovation to step outside the norm and the ode to the fashion house's beginnings.
Underwhelming pieces that didn't inspire
This look from the Lacoste Womenswear Fall/Winter 2024-2025 show wasn't the biggest head-scratcher of the week, but we couldn't quite rally behind the landscape print and asymmetric hem of the piece. There are elements we warmed to, like the movement and flow of the fabric, but overall, the look failed to leave a lasting impression.
Some pieces felt a bit awkward
We love a simple and classic ensemble on the runway, but we couldn't quite get past the long and bulky gloves that resemble the rubber cleaning type that was featured in the Miu Miu Womenswear Fall/Winter 2024-2025 show. This addition seemed to throw off the look for us — but again, we do appreciate the out-of-the-box creativity that went into these statement accessories.
Other moments got lost in translation
While there isn't anything inherently off-putting about this semi-apocalyptic look from the Avellano Womenswear Fall/Winter 2024-2025 show, we were generally underwhelmed by the ensemble as a whole. The hue of olive green is perfection, but we can't imagine the formless latex flattering anyone in the real world.
Unusual silhouettes that leave much to be desired
We will say the powder-blue hue of this monochromatic look from the Louis Vuitton Womenswear Fall/Winter 2024-2025 show is simply top-notch. However, the silhouette and awkward sleeves of the look were lost on us. We do love a monochromatic outfit to inspire one-tone looks, but this wasn't it.
A major mismatch
Zippered fleeces and billowing skirts weren't what we expected to see on the runway, and while we admire the imagination that went into this combo, this look at the Miu Miu Womenswear Fall/Winter 2024-2025 show left us feeling confused more than awe-struck. It could've been a great hi-low moment, but there wasn't enough cohesion to bring it all together in the end.
